Join Our Team as a AI/ML RAN & RRM Engineer

Role Overview:

Ekiva is looking for an AI/ML RAN & RRM Engineer to develop and integrate intelligent algorithms and data-driven solutions for 5G RAN optimisation, Radio Resource Management (RRM), network intelligence and automated network control.

The role will work closely with RAN, RF, software, orchestration and integration teams to develop and validate AI/ML-driven capabilities for real-world telecom and industrial network environments.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Develop AI/ML solutions for 5G RAN optimisation and Radio Resource Management (RRM).
• Develop and evaluate algorithms for:
  • Radio resource allocation
  • Scheduling and QoS optimisation
  • Load balancing
  • Interference management
  • Mobility and handover optimisation
  • Coverage and capacity optimisation
  • Traffic prediction
• Analyse RAN data, KPIs, counters and network telemetry to identify optimisation opportunities.
• Develop predictive models for network performance, congestion, faults and service degradation.
• Support Self-Organising Network (SON) and intelligent network optimisation use cases.
• Support AI/ML integration with Open RAN, RIC, xApps/rApps and network orchestration platforms.
• Develop solutions supporting closed-loop network automation and intelligent decision-making.
• Build and validate ML/data pipelines using real or simulated telecom network data.
• Work with RAN/RF engineers to validate AI/ML recommendations against real network behaviour.
• Support laboratory testing, Proof of Concepts, field trials and production deployments.
• Collaborate with RAN, Core, RF, Orchestration, Backend, DevOps and Test teams to integrate AI/ML capabilities into end-to-end solutions.
• Document algorithms, models, test results and technical findings.
• Support customer technical workshops, demonstrations and Proofs of Concept.
• Work with technology partners, research teams and engineering organisations.
• Contribute to technical proposals, innovation activities and solution development.
• Clearly communicate AI/ML results and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years experience in AI/ML, RAN Engineering, RRM, Telecom Data Analytics or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of 4G LTE and 5G NR RAN.
• Practical understanding of:
  • RRM
  • Scheduling
  • QoS
  • Mobility management
  • Interference management
  • RAN KPIs
  • Network optimisation
• Strong Python programming and experience with relevant AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience with:
  • Machine Learning
  • Deep Learning
  • Statistical modelling
  • Data analytics
  • Time-series analysis
• Understanding of Open RAN / O-RAN architecture.
• Knowledge of RIC, xApps and rApps is highly desirable.
• Experience working with telecom network data, KPIs, counters or telemetry.
• Understanding of network automation and closed-loop optimisation.
• Experience working in multi-vendor RAN environments is preferred.
• Ability to translate telecom/network problems into practical AI/ML solutions.
• Must have the right to work in the UK, as we are unable to sponsor visa applications.

• Full-time on site in Egham, ability to commute.
